How to list on eBay from ChatGPT or Claude

You need a ChatGPT or Claude account, a Shelvio account (it is created the first time you use the connection if you do not have one), and an eBay seller account if you want to list on eBay. Setup takes about two minutes on a computer.

One thing to do in the Shelvio app or on the web: allow AI processing. It is a one-time permission, and Shelvio will tell you in the chat if it is still needed.

ChatGPT calls these add-ons plugins. Full custom MCP actions require Business or Enterprise/Edu with workspace permission; Pro is read/fetch only. Free, Go, and Plus are not documented for full custom actions. Check the detailed ChatGPT setup guide before choosing a plan.

Claude calls these add-ons connectors. Until Shelvio is approved for Claude’s Connectors Directory, you add it yourself as a custom connector, which works on every plan. Claude Free allows one custom connector; on Team and Enterprise, an owner adds it for the organization first.

Share photos of one item, best photo first, and say what a buyer would need to know: brand, size, measurements, flaws, and anything you tested. Talk the way you would in a voice note. Shelvio identifies the item and writes the title, description, condition, and item specifics in the background, usually within a minute.

Do one item per request. If you have five items, send five sets of photos; each becomes its own listing in your Shelvio inventory, alongside the batches from your app. In ChatGPT, attach the photos right in the chat. In Claude and other assistants, Shelvio gives you a link to add them on the Shelvio web app, or you can paste links to photos that are already online.

Shelvio does not look up or suggest prices in chat. When the listing is ready, tell your assistant your price. If you ask what something is worth, your assistant may give its own estimate, and it should say that it is only an estimate. For recent sold prices, use a Price Check in the Shelvio app.

The first time, ask your assistant to connect eBay. Shelvio shows a button that opens eBay’s own sign-in page, so your eBay password never goes into the chat. Then ask it to get the item ready for eBay. eBay verifies the listing, and Shelvio shows a preview with the category, condition, every item specific, shipping, returns, fees, and anything eBay still needs.

Read the preview like a buyer would, then press List on eBay in the Shelvio card. That press is the only thing that publishes, it works once per preview, and your assistant cannot press it for you. If you change the listing after the preview, ask for a fresh one.

Some assistants cannot show interactive cards. In those, Shelvio sends you to the Shelvio web app, where the listing is waiting for you to review and list.

The listing now shows as listed on eBay everywhere you use Shelvio. Your assistant can change its price or end it, and it is set up to check with you before either one. This works for listings Shelvio put on eBay. If you sell the item somewhere else, tell your assistant; if you turned on auto-end in Shelvio, that can also end the eBay listing.
