How to connect Shelvio to ChatGPT
Check your ChatGPT plan, add the Shelvio custom MCP server, and see your inventory in a chat. Clear steps, sign-in help, and a first prompt to try.
Bring your Shelvio items into ChatGPT so you can find inventory, edit listings, and prepare items for eBay by asking. MCP is simply the connection that lets ChatGPT use Shelvio. You do not need to write code or run a server.
Start with the plan check below. Being able to browse the Plugins Directory does not necessarily mean your account can add its own MCP server.
Check your ChatGPT plan first
OpenAI currently documents full custom MCP actions for Business and Enterprise/Edu on the web. Business setup requires an admin or owner. Enterprise/Edu members need the relevant workspace permission.
Pro custom connections are limited to read/fetch. Free, Go, and Plus are not documented for full custom MCP actions. Do not upgrade to one of those expecting the complete Shelvio listing workflow. Claude Free supports one custom connector if you want another way to start.
Use ChatGPT in a computer browser for this setup. OpenAI currently documents custom MCP connections as web only.
Get your Shelvio account ready
Use the same Shelvio sign-in you use in the app so your existing items appear. New here? You can create an account during sign-in. Open Shelvio on the web or in the app once to allow AI processing before asking it to generate a listing.
Your assistant subscription and Shelvio access are separate. Listings created through an assistant use your existing Shelvio allowance. Start an eligible free trial through the App Store or Play Store: 3 days on Weekly or 7 days on Monthly or Annual. The trial includes full mobile and web access. Subscriptions started on the web through Stripe begin immediately with no trial.

Add Shelvio in ChatGPT
Open chatgpt.com/plugins in your browser. In the current Plugins experience, you acknowledge a warning for each server rather than enabling Developer Mode first.
- Select +, then Add custom MCP server.
- Enter Shelvio as the name. For the connection, paste the server URL above, including /mcp.
- Choose OAuth for authentication. This means you sign in on a secure page instead of sharing a password in chat.
- Read the warning, select I understand and want to continue, then Create as a plugin.
- Complete the Shelvio sign-in and approve access when prompted. Review the tools, then install the resulting plugin.
Check that it worked
Start a new chat, type @, and choose Shelvio. Send the message below. Seeing your saved items, or a clear message that your inventory is empty, confirms the connection is working. Mention Shelvio again when a later request needs fresh data.

- No Add custom MCP server option? Check the selected workspace, your plan, and your role with the workspace admin.
- An older screen says Apps > Create? Your account may still show the legacy flow. Follow OpenAI’s linked instructions below.
- Sign-in loops or the wrong items? Reconnect with the same Shelvio account you use on your phone.
- Generation is blocked? Ask Shelvio to check your account status; you may need AI permission or available listing access.

Do I need an OpenAI API key?
No. Use your ChatGPT account and secure Shelvio sign-in. You do not need developer billing, a terminal, or an API key.
Can ChatGPT automatically put my items on eBay?
It can prepare the listing. You review the preview and press List on eBay in Shelvio to put it live. Connect your eBay seller account separately when you are ready.
